The Esteem Team
Self-esteem is a crucial factor in building mental health and well-being, as it serves as the foundation for emotional resilience, life and coping skills, and successful social interaction and inclusion. Through our two weekly sessions, each lasting for two hours, we strive to empower young people by providing them with a safe and supportive environment where they can engage in a range of fun and interesting activities.
By participating in the ‘Esteem Team’ project, young people can enhance their self-esteem and develop the necessary skills to lead healthy and fulfilling lives. Join us in our mission to promote mental health and well-being in the Saffron Lane estate!
Welcome to the ‘Esteem Team’ project, run by Pink Lizard, in the Saffron Lane estate of Leicester. The program aims to address the high rate of mental illness among young people in the area, particularly those who are not in employment, education or training (NEET), by increasing their self-esteem.
During the first session, we offer a variety of exciting activities such as healthy cooking, multi-sports, film making, music production and artwork, which are designed to foster creativity and promote physical and mental well-being.
The second session is a group chat session facilitated by our qualified counselor who covers an array of topics, including self-esteem, body dysmorphia, stress, abuse, negative thought patterns, previous bad choices, setting goals, career choices, relationship and parenting skills, times of transition, bullying, bereavement, anger management, and self-harm.
